WE’RE HOMESCHOOLING!
Homeschooling has been on my heart for months now, long before Covid ever happened. I shared that here with you all, and was met with so much positivity and encouragement! In case you missed it, we are officially homeschooling this year! With the vague guidelines and distance learning that will definitely not serve my son or his learning needs, it was just the push we needed to jump into this new journey. And I keep reading more about homeschooling (just finished “Call of the Wild and Free”– highly recommend!) and feeling this overwhelming emotion deep down in my soul, that this is RIGHT and this is exactly what we should be doing. I remember when we first got serious about it, I was still so unsure and worried about so many things, and I prayed (begged, really) for God to give me a sign/ anything- that this is the right path for us. And boy, I think he went ahead and did that, and then some! There’s a fire in my soul and I am SO ready to start this! It’s going to be messy and challenging some days, but honestly, that’s our life, anyway! Nothing new there. So, I say BRING IT. I am ready and couldn’t feel more sure that this is right where we are supposed to be.
THE DETAILS
We signed up through a charter in our district, and have been assigned a teacher (and will also be getting a special education teacher) for Sam for 1st grade! Since Sophie is not school-aged yet, and would have been going to her second year of preschool, we didn’t officially need to sign her up, but she’ll be learning alongside Sam! And of course Ollie boy will be along for the ride haha. ;) Mostly snack time- that’s his jam.
Sam is continuing his ABA therapy as well, part time, in center. So he will be going to therapy 5 days a week for a few hours a day, which is great for all of us! He loves the change of scenery and therapy is so good for him. We are looking into starting speech therapy back up (his SLP took a break when all this happened and we have yet to explore what our options are there).
I plan on sharing all of the things as they come along, and what curriculum we decide on and all that! I know this will not be easy, but nothing ever is, so I’m ready! Come what may! :)
NOW, HOMESCHOOLING MAMAS:
Gimme any tips, your favorite curriculum, etc. I’d love to connect with other homeschooling mamas out there! Any other special needs homeschoolers, too!
We’ve got this!!

What online charter school did you go with? I’ve been researching all the virtual schools and think I’ve found one that speaks to me I believe it’s in California that’s why I ask!
