{Picking out our tree. I can check that one off my list already!}

A list of things to do this winter. And yes, we will do them all, and then some. Because I plan on keeping busy and staying happy and optimistic. Good plan, right?
Drive around at night looking at lights and drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Buy a Christmas tree and decorate it to the nines.
Wrap presents while listening to Christmas music.
Make a new Christmas CD for this year.
Watch “Christmas Vacation” like a million times.
Watch a Christmas movie almost every night in December. But only the happy ones. No tear-jerkers allowed this year. Sorry, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” I love you but I can’t handle you this year.
Bake 7 different kinds of cookies, as per Norwegian tradition.
Send out Christmas cards in early December.
Figure out a cute way to display cards in our house.
Paint the nursery.
Go to the movies.
See The Nutcracker ballet.
Host a game night at our house.
What’s on your winter to do list?
xo
p.s. See last year’s list here!
p.p.s. I’m sharing a holiday style steal over at Savvy Sassy Moms today! My new favourite outfit! :)
Love your winter to-do list! I love baking Christmas cookies. I can’t wait to decorate the Christmas tree! My boyfriend & I just bought super cute ornaments for each other –got them personalized and everything. I’m a sucker for the Christmas movies on lifetime and the hallmark channel haha. One of my plans for sure is to go to the tree at Rockefeller Center. Love your boots in the picture!
Awww you and your boyfriend are the CUTEST!!! I LOVE that you bought each other ornaments- I might have to steal that tradition :)
xo
I can’t WAIT to see how you decorate the nursery!!!
Carly, I am soooo excited for it!! We have been doing every other room, and are saving the nursery til last, so the anticipation is just building! :)
xo
Love this! So many great ideas!! I’ve never seen a Christmas Vacation, so I might just have to go look for it! Looking at lights with hot cocoa = the best!! I love looking at lights, although, I think this year I may have to find a new place to go look, I need more to see ;)
Wait, what. We cannot be friends if you don’t watch Christmas Vacation this year, I’m not even kidding. It’s on tv a lot, it’s also free on instant Netflix (if you have it?) and like a million other places. Just, please, promise me you will watch it!!!
xo
I’m probably going to have to steal a few ideas off this list because I feel like the Christmas season always passes me by far too quickly! I’d especially looove to go see The Nutcracker. The Boston Ballet changed the show up last year and I’m dying to see if it’s any good!
Yes, please, steal away!! :) Ooh they changed the show?! I feel like it’s always the same, but I’m more than okay with that. I just love The Nutcracker!!
xo
Oh the nutcracker is on my list too! now i really need to make a list!
Lists are what dreams are made of, my friend.

The Christmas I was pregnant I put “Pick out Christmas pajamas for the baby next year!” So we bought pajamas (he was going to be 9 months the next holiday season, so we got that size) and I was so excited about them…but then our baby ended up being C H U B B Y and he ended up wearing them through September and outgrowing them by Halloween. They were still darn cute on him, though!
Awww at least you still had him wear them, even if it wasn’t quite Christmas yet!! :) Plus, chubby babies are the best!
xo
The first one is def my favorite! I can’t wait to see all the lights!

Me toooo!! :) It’s one of the best things to do this season!

Love your list! I’m so excited to do lots and lots of things this year! We’ve already got our tree up & decorated & I love it :) Although ours is fake. Partially because someone gave it to us for free and partially because I think my dog would try to eat a real tree. Now she just sleeps under the fake one. Cutest thing ever.
Good luck with your list & with keeping busy! I try to avoid the sad movies all the time around Christmas because I know they’ll make me think of who I’m missing & I know my loved ones who have passed wouldn’t want me thinking that way!

Heyyy can’t beat getting a free tree!! Our cats love our tree, too. Too cute. And you are absolutely right- our loved ones would NOT want us being sad during the happiest time of the year! <3 Althought it's hard not to be!

I love to go look at the lights!! That’s always a Christmas Eve tradition also. I baked some cookies for a cookie trade that is tomorrow night on Sunday while watching “Let it Snow” on Hallmark and I got a few presents wrapped also. Our house is all decorated. It is close to time to just be able to enjoy the season with buying a few more gifts and watching all of our favorite Christmas movies & watching a few new ones of course. I can’t wait to find out what you are having & seeing the nursery!!
Oooh cookie trade! Talk about the best idea ever!! I’m planning on wrapping some presents tonight! It’s always so much fun. :)
xo
hey, if you happen to have any left over cookies, send them our way ;)

I’ve been living in San Diego for over 5 years and this year I am finally going to see How The Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe theatre. So excited
Also always excited about going Ice Skating
Ooh that sounds really neat! That old theatre is so cool, I’m jealous! And yes! Ice skating!! So fun!

Great list! I love driving/walking around looking at Christmas lights – it’s one of my favorite parts about the holiday season! I’ve still got to get my Christmas tree, which I hope to do this week. I have a few other decorations to put up too, including another one of these lights-in-jars decorations (which I’ll line up out on my porch): http://akabailey.blogspot.ca/2013/02/diy-re-purposing-holiday-lights.html
I hope you get to see the Nutcracker – that’s one of my favorite Christmas activities too!!

Ohhh my gosh, those lights in jars are SO PRETTY! I love the way they shine through the glass. Just gorgeous. And I’m really hoping we see the Nutcracker this year too! It’s been a few years, but it was one of my favourite things to do when I was younger!

Love your sweater & boots.
Aw thanks girly!! :) They kept me nice and snug!
