So today is my birthday, and it sure is different this year. Having a baby will do that, you know. It’s crazy, really. Every year, I count down the days to my birthday, I remind Zack how soon it is, I get all excited and giddy, but this year? Well, this year it’s just kind of snuck up on me, so quickly. I blinked, and here it is! And yeah, it’s fun and exciting and all, but honestly? I celebrated a different birthday already this year, on April 11th, and it was way more exciting than this 27th one. ;) I have a feeling it’ll be like that every year from here on out now. And I am more than okay with that!
I said something along the lines of birthdays being less important when you have a baby, and my dad replied “It will always be your day. Sam can tag along.” And I really liked that. He’s right: It will always be my day. :) So here’s to celebrating today! My dad’s coming over to take us out to lunch, as per birthday tradition, and Zack gave me my present last night… Which I am SO EXCITED about!!
You’re looking at the newest member of Tone It Up! :D You have no idea. I’ve been following these girls for years and doing their workouts pretty much religiously, but I had never bought the plan. After having Sam, I’ve realized just how important nutrition is in living a healthy lifestyle, as well as working out, which I mean, I always knew of course, but I could use some more help now. ;) So Zack bought the plan, printed it all out, and put it all together for me. Which was no small task. It’s a longggg plan! And omgomgomgomgomg I AM SO EXCITED!!! So yay. Okay. I love my hubs.
Fun anecdote: I was eating cookie butter when Zack came to the living room with my present.
Me: “Should I stop eating cookie butter before I open the present?”
Zack: “It would actually be way better if you were eating cookie butter while opening the present.”
And indeed, he was right. It was pretty great. Cookie butter is part of the Tone It Up lifestyle, right? ;)
So today I also just wanted to add a quick little thing about my feelings on birthdays and growing older in general. Each one is a blessing. Each year, each month, each day- they are all a gift. Life is SHORT and we should all remember to live in the moment and never take our lives or our loved ones for granted. Enjoy each day- you just never know when it will be your last. So go for that run you’ve been neglecting. See that friend you’ve been putting off seeing. Make that phone call. Send that email. Tell someone you love them, every day. These things are important, and can easily get pushed back with the good intentions of getting to “later.” There is no later. There is only now!
So here’s to another year older! I’m happy to be here. 27, be good to me. :)
