This post is in partnership with Motorola. All opinions are 100% my own.
So right around Sophie’s first birthday, we finally moved her out of our room and into her very own! It was a big to-do, as her room was previously our “storage” room (we have a tiny under 1000 square foot house, and were bursting at the seams!), so it was a big move, and we did some soul searching and got rid of a lot to make it happen, BUT! It happened! And now Sophie girl has her very own bedroom! And the best part is, it is the same bedroom I had growing up. :)
I KNOW. It makes me happy, too.
I have been having so much fun decorating her little space and making it uniquely hers, adding little feminine touches. Now, her room is on the other side of our house. Like I said, it’s not a big house, but Sam’s room is literally 5 feet from ours, and now Sophie is on the clear other side, so it feels like an eternity. One thing that has absolutely saved my sanity and helped me sleep at night (I’m telling you, moving her from arm’s reach to the other side of the house was a challenge, emotionally!), is our baby monitor.
So, maybe I’m a crazy mom (although, I think it’s safe to say that sums up all moms, amiright?!), but I like to be able to see my babies whenever I want (especially when they’re sleeping). There’s just something about being able to turn on a screen and watch my little one sleep, or see that she’s fussing, or that she dropped her binky, or threw her stuffed animal out of her crib, or whatever it may be. It gives me peace of mind to know that they are safe and sound.
Can we keep it this way their whole lives, or…?
Kidding. Mostly. Kind of. Sort of.
ANYWAY. A monitor. I recommend one to everyone who asks. Peace of mind is literally priceless, so when Motorola reached out wanting me to try out their newest smart baby monitor, I was really excited! It’s the Motorola MBP855CONNECT, and as you can see, it is beautiful. Obviously that isn’t the most important thing, but hey. It helps. They have definitely been paying attention to what mamas need and like, because, hellooooo pretty gold detailing! YES!
Okay, but more than the looks, this monitor kind of has it all. It is their premier monitor with color video screen, two way communication, pan, tilt and zoom, WiFi capability, and more! One of my favorite features is the lullaby function, which you can turn on from the portable screen, so you don’t have to be in the room and disturb your baby, but you can turn on some soothing lullabies to help her fall asleep. GENIUS! We have used this a few times when she’s fussed, and she went right back to sleep! Not saying it’s a miracle worker, but… And did I mention that the camera is fully portable? Because it can be battery powered, you can move it wherever baby moves –the bouncy seat, the high chair, in or outside the house, really anywhere you might want to keep an eye on baby. This is super helpful when managing two kiddos at the same time!
I’d say the number one most important factor for me for any monitor is the screen quality. It needs to be clear and bright (but not washed out) and I need to be able to see that sweet face. Check, check and check! You can zoom in, and move it around, and it adjusts to the lightness in the room, but also has a feature for you to be able to dim or brighten up the lightness. Also, you can set it on a shelf like I have, or mount it on the wall or ceiling- whatever works with your space. The unique StarGrip accessory included with the monitor allows the camera to really be placed anywhere, at any angle! Yay for flexibility! It also gives you the opportunity to view your baby’s precious face at unique viewpoints – and with the screenshot function, keep those views forever. Yay for flexibility!
Having a baby monitor has been such a godsend for us. It allows us to not be super paranoid, especially as first-time parents, ohhhh man! With the second, we’re a bit more lax (as is the natural progression), but we still need to know our babies are safe and sound, and having a monitor give us the ability to peek in and make sure they are just that, is everything. Also, I don’t know about you, but our house is old and has very squeaky wood floors that like to wake up our babies in an instant. So… Baby monitoring has meant more sleep, for everyone! ;)
And look at that little face. Who wouldn’t want to see it as often as possible? :)
So… What’s your top baby product?

Love her nursery!!! What color paint did you use on the walls? I’m expecting my 2nd baby in August and I’m having the toughest time finding the perfect color. Love how this color looks! Thanks! :)

oh her room is SO sweet!!! the flowers over her little crib – that is gorgeous. and it was your room growing up?! that is crazy and amazing!!!! i totally understand the distance thing, too… in our last house, baby girl’s room was RIGHT right right next to ours. then we turned our office down the hall [haha – NOT far] into baby boy’s room and it felt like forever away! i was so stressed about it. so i totally get that!!! you’ve done such a good job here, beauty!!!
