This weekend was so full! We went wine tasting on Saturday and spent time with my daddio up the hill then last night we went to dinner with my in-laws. I have about a million photos to share from Saturday (no lie- there are SO MANY) so I have decided to split this weekend recap into two posts! And for now, I’ll share our Mother’s Day, because it was a good one.
Let me preface this by saying this was a very emotional weekend for me. I could not stop thinking about how much my mom should be here, and I seemed to be reminded around every corner that- well- that she wasn’t. And that is (needless to say) extremely hard. It’s no one’s fault, I mean, I knew this was coming. It’s freaking “mother’s” day for crying out loud. I knew it was coming, I knew there was no way around it, I knew that I would just have to deal with it. Still, regardless, it’s just plain hard. After many tears and prayers, I put a smile on my face and went to dinner with my sweet husband and his mom, dad and brother. It was SO much fun. I just absolutely love them to pieces, and I am so blessed and pleased to be able to call them my own. I’m getting emotional again even thinking about it, but they are just such good people, and I really couldn’t have married into a better family. So. That’s that. Okay. Pictures!

This is a beautiful post, I am so glad you were able to celebrate mothers day with your mother-in-law! And Great Gatsby – I saw it last night and I am slightly obsessed. Seriously, I thought it was brilliant and fascinating. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it!

We went to see Gatsby with my mama yesterday and it was awesome!! Definitely something more in the film noir category and from my perspective, captured the book so well!!

I married into an amazing and caring family too and it makes such a difference during times like mother’s day or my mom’s birthday. This was my second mother’s day without her yet I felt somewhat at peace this year especially in comparison to last year. So glad you were able to somewhat have a joyful day as well.
Surprisingly, I’ve never read The Great Gatsby (I still don’t know how this happened) so I’m reading it now for fear that the movie will ruin it for me if I see it first!

Hi Katie! I’m so glad that you enjoyed this day. I saw the great gatsby on sunday and LOVED it SO much. I have never had time to read the book… can you believe it!? and I have only heard what the story is about. I can’t wait to read the book AND buy the new movie on Blu-Ray.
