In honor of St. Paddy’s Day I thought I’d share my favorite green smoothie recipes here today. You know, because they’re green and I like to be festive when I can. ;) Plus, they’re chock full of nutrients, a great post-workout meal, and they’re just plain delicious. Don’t let the green color fool you, my friends.
Side note about the spinach for those who may be weary: It’s only in there for the added health benefits, and I promise to you- pinky swear!- that you cannot taste it at all.

So for some reason, I have been craving pineapple like a craaaazy person lately. I know, everyone keeps telling me that pineapple supposedly induces labor (but I think this is a crock of bull, and my mother-in-law agrees- although that is not the language she used ;) but I like to live on the wild side I suppose, regardless and thus I have been eating lots of frozen pineapple. I’m obsessed. Can’t stop won’t stop. This smoothie is so simple and I just threw in the ingredients one day and went HOLY COW THIS IS DELICIOUS, and so here it is.
You Need:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks (Costco has organic ones!)
A few heaping handfuls of spinach
You Do:
Blend. Duh. And then thank me, because this delicious creaminess is the best thing ever.

This one is definitely my go-to green smoothie, and I make it often after a great sweat session.
You Need:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (greek or not, doesn’t matter)
1 frozen banana (I always have a few bananas chopped up and frozen in a sandwich bag in my freezer, ready for smoothies!)
1 Tbsp peanut butter (almond butter would be good too!)
2 handfuls/ cups of spinach (or kale)
You Do:
Add all ingredients in the order listed. Blend. Enjoy!

This one’s really yummy and I like to make it when I’m feeling extra berry-liscious. I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds like a thing, so I’m going with it.
You Need:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup frozen blueberries (again, the organic bag from Costco)
heaping handful of spinach
You Do:
Blend it all up! Sometimes I’ll add a few ice cubes, but literally only one or two, for a little extra “slush.”

This is a great smoothie for kids, as it is delicious and they will drink it all up! Plus, if you don’t put a buuuunch of spinach, it’s not even green. ;)
You Need:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 cup frozen strawberries (you can do fresh, too, I just prefer the slushiness of the frozen fruit in a smoothie)
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (any kind you have- I like Greek)
handful of spinach
You Do:
Blend and garnish with a strawberry on top, because it’s pretty.

This makes for a great healthy dessert, as well as a smoothie for whenever. Add a dollop of whipped cream for extra yumminess!
You Need:
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 splash of coconut water (not necessary, but I like to add it for extra coconut flavor)
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
handful of spinach
You Do:
Blend it all together, in that order. Be prepared for mouth-watering deliciousness.
These green smoothies are pretty much on rotation in my house. They are my go-to for when I’m hit with the hangries at 4pm or for after a great workout or even just for a nutritious and delicious breakfast! And in case anyone is wondering, I use our handy Ninja blender and it works amazing. Love that thing. You can also look at this list if you’re looking for the best blender for green smoothies.
What’s your favorite smoothie recipe? Leave it in the comments! I’m always looking to add to my repertoire.

Yum! These all sound so good! I’m not a big spinach person so the first time I made a green smoothie I was positive I wouldn’t like the taste– but it was like magic because you couldn’t taste the spinach at all like you said :)
Katie
YES, it really is like magic!! :) haha

I can’t wait to try these!! We drink green smoothies over here a whole lot! I love that you mentioned Costco. That is where we always buy our frozen fruit. One time we were checking out with like 3 or 4 bags of frozen fruit (we have green smoothies daily) and the guy said, “Oh, smoothie night?” I responded with, “Smoothie life! Smoothies every day!” haha.
Katie
Ahhh I love it! Smoothie life!! Word.

I’ve never yet been brave enough to try a green smoothie, but maybe St. Patty’s Day is the perfect occasion…
Katie
YES, there is no better time than St. Paddy’s to try all things green! ;) I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how good green smoothies are, too!

Yumm, these sound so good! I’ve been making the same smoothie every time, so I’m hoping to try these out and add some variety. I usually do spinach, strawberries, banana, blueberries, almond milk, and ice (and some vanilla protein powder). And I can’t wait until summer, because I have a feeling I’ll be drinking more smoothies once it’s actually warm outside :)
Katie
Yummm yours sounds so good! I love all things green smoothies. Actually, I love all things smoothies in general. So good!

Oh, I’ve gotten into the green smoothies in a biiig way lately! They’re just SO GOOD. I’m hooked…and probably will be forever! My favourite is definitely the banana-berry one; good ol’ frozen banana, yogurt, strawberries and spinach can do no wrong! :)
Katie
Agreed! They are the BEST! Yum yum yum, it’s crazy how much of a difference having a frozen banana vs a fresh one is! :)

hey girlie, I just wanted to say thank you so much for the sweet comment you left about my mom. It really meant a lot and I’m super glad to report that after six weeks in the ICU she is doing much better. We have faith a full recovery is just around the corner. :)

Yum!! These all sound sooo good!! The almond milk in them just makes them sound 10x better, I’m not sure why but it does haha.
Katie
Haha yes, I’m just a huge fan of almond milk. :) I know they’d be good with any kind of milk, of course, but I definitely think the almond milk makes them better ;)

Hi again,
I’m doing mine in the morning using my stick blender. I bought some cute travel cups at the grocery store this weekend, they have screw on lids and straws.
!My smoothies be mobile!
Today was strawberries, pineapple, unsweetened Almond Milk, a blob of non-fat Greek yogurt, and a huge handful of spinach. The color was a little off putting, but the flavor was fabulous! Thank you Katie for the reminder that spinach is an excellent addition! I knew it once, but forgot….
Katie
Yum, your smoothie sounds amazing! And using a stick blender is SUCH a good idea! I’ll have to try that! I love it- “My smoothies be mobile!”
