Thanksgiving started with cinnamon rolls, peppermint mocha, warm socks and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (with plenty of fast forward because, I mean, it’s a 3 hour parade- that’s just a necessity). This was of course, most obviously, followed by the National Dog Show, hosted by J. Peterman (please tell me you know who that is) which I watched while riding my stationary bike. Turkey day cardio is key. Please, no spoilers on the winner of the dog show, though, because I ran out of time and didn’t get to see the end. And now we all know what my plans for today are.
Thanksgiving Meal #1 was at my grandpa’s house. He lives on a farm, hence the goats. My grandpa’s wife told me I look “really cute pregnant,” so that was sweet. It was great spending time with my family, although my daddio and brothers and of course mom were all terribly missed!
Thanksgiving Meal #2 was at Zack’s aunt’s house. More delicious food and great company. And of course, the pie. My mother-in-law made sure that my ratio of 1:1 (pie: whipped cream) was spot on. ;) And that apple crumble pie is the best one you’ll ever have in your entire life, I’m sure of it.
I talked to both of my brothers on the phone, which was really great. I cannot wait to see them again! Only a few more weeks and they’ll both be home for Christmas, yay! :) When we got home, I proceeded to have a little more mashed potatoes and a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce, as per Thanksgiving night tradition. I am also planning on watching Christmas Vacation tonight, because hey! It’s Christmas season officially! Yay!
How was your Thanksgiving?
What’s your favourite pie? Mine is apple. Make it warm and a la mode and ohhh man. I’m yours forever.
Are you doing any Black Friday shopping?

p.s. See my Thanksgiving Recaps from last year here and here!

Looks like you had an amazing Thanksgiving!!! :) Ours was great we spent it with friends since we didn’t go home. Most Army friends become more like family for us. :)
Katie
Aww I love that your Army friends are your family. So sweet that you have that! :) Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!

Looks like you had a great day! And lots of great food!! Mine was pretty fantastic and it ended with a quick Black Friday/Thursday trip to Target for a new camera. But we waited a couple of hours after they opened so I didn’t have to deal with horrible crowds and having a panic attack like I almost did last year! Other than that, no shopping for me today. Just relaxing, I swear I think I have a food hangover!!

Nice!! Awesome that you got a new camera, and even better that you waited for the crowds to die down. Smart girl!!

looks like an awesome thanksgiving! and yay for christmas movies!
I am a serious sucker for pumpkin pie.. when the holidays come around I eat enough to last me the rest of the year ;)
Katie
YES, I am the exact same way. I never want pumpkin pie until Thanksgiving, and then I get my fill and I’m happy til the next year :) It works perfectly.

Looks like you had a lovely Thanksgiving! Mine was lovely as well: Run to Feed the Hungry, family time, and lots of food!
I love apple pie with ice cream, too!
No Black Friday for me. Fighting crowds and sitting in traffic does not sound like fun to me. :P
Katie
My parents-in-law did the Run to Feed the Hungry!! So awesome! :) One year, I swear I will do it!! This year was so not that year haha. Sleeping in was more important. ;) I agree about fighting crowds and traffic- NO fun. I prefer shopping from the comfort of my own home!

Your Thanksgiving meals look so good! Apple pie is my favorite kind of pie, too. It’s also my dad’s –he loves it a la mode. The picture of you and Zack watching the Thanksgiving parade is adorable :)
Katie
Yay apple pie fans unite!! :) And it was so fun watching the parade together. I’m just surprised I reeled him in ;) It was definitely the cinnamon rolls that did it!

You’re so lucky you can pull off orange! And how awesome that you get 2 Thanksgivings! I know I’m ready to explode after one… and then they go and bring out desert. Curse the apple caramel cheesecake squares!
Katie
Aww you’re so sweet!! Oh my, those sound delicious. I will have to request them for next time! ;)
