If you’re new here, you may wonder what I mean when I say we’re going “up the hill.” You see, my parents moved to this gorgeous community about 3 years ago. It’s an hour from the city we live in and it’s pretty much the most gorgeous place ever. My brother, who studied abroad in Scotland, says it reminds him of Edinburgh. The rolling hills, the beautiful country, the trees and lakes. It’s become our getaway spot, our little mini vacation away from the world. My mom coined the term “up the hill” and it just kind of stuck. So when I say we’re headed up the hill, now you know just what that means. And maybe you’ll see just why I love this place so much. It truly is a paradise. It’s the best place to go and take a break from the world for a while. I tried to capture the essence in my photographs above. Hope you enjoyed my amateur photography. :)
Do you have a favorite getaway spot? Where do you go to “recharge”?

That is beautiful! We have Solsbury Hill out out back garden and we like to climb up there or go on country walks through the countryside here in England. It is my favourite part of the weekend.

i love it when parents move to beautiful places : ) my parents built their dream house right on a gorgeous lake and about an hour away from any big city. it’s a long drive to get there but it’s so worth it when you do!that looks like a great place to unwind!
That sounds amazing!! I definitely agree- it’s so worth the drive!

I’m curious to know where your “up the hill” is because my parents live in an area we call “on the hill.” I wonder if it’s the same place….about an hour from Sac, so it’s possible.
Aw no way! They live in a tiny place called Wallace, right by Camanche Lake! :)
xo
Ah, ok, so like the opposite direction. My parents live up toward Reno, between Auburn and Placerville in a tiny town called Georgetown. I’ve been to Camanche Lake, though. It’s beautiful up there for sure!
ohhh okay, yes totally opposite direction, haha! Yours are closer to the mountains! Love!

So pretty!!! I’m dying for spring. Not a single flower in sight around these parts yet…just another 4″ of snow this morning. ;)
Awww noooo more snow!! Mother Nature needs to get the memo that it’s time for warm weather! ;)

Gorgeous shots. Doesn’t hurt when you have a subject like that though.
Right?! It was pretty easy to make it gorgeous ;)

Pretty flowers! I’m still waiting for our first flowers to bloom here. Does it count if I recharge at the mall? Otherwise, we like to recharge down at the Cape. :)

My husband and I grew up in the same small town way out in the eastern part of TX. There’s no place like it, and we love going home to the open pastures and tall pine trees. I don’t think we will ever live there permanently again, but it’s nice that both our parents are there so we can always go “home.”
Aww that’s so sweet. I love it! There’s no place like home ;)

Oh, I love it. It looks so peaceful and pretty. For some reason it makes me think of Anne of Green Gables. No idea why but it does haha
YES, the rolling green pastures/ land and cute houses. I totally get why you think of Anne.
