A little bit about Halloween, since you know, it’s today and all. I thought I’d share some of the bits and pieces of Halloween around our house! I even had a festive orange drink (with a black straw!) with my pumpkin pasta last night. ‘Tis the season. The festive dinner got me in the Halloween mood, and so naturally I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (using this recipe) and um, hi. They are delicious. Even Zack said they were good, and he isn’t a chocolate chip cookie fan (I know, I don’t get it either).
Something else festive: I convinced Zack to watch Hocus Pocus with me! After convincing him to get some candy corn at the store! Ohhh, I reeled in a good one, for sure. Really though, I hadn’t had any candy corn at all this year, and that just isn’t right, you know? I mean, one cannot get fully into the Halloween mood without some candy corn! And so, we watched “Hocus Pocus,” which I admittedly hadn’t seen since I was probably in high school? Maybe middle school? I know, I know. Just awful. But anyway. It’s going to be a yearly tradition in our household now, because gosh I love that movie. How did I forget how awesome it is?! “It’s all a bunch of Hocus Pocus!” Oh, and also, I will be calling Zack (a.k.a. Zachary) “Thackery” from now on.
We’re headed up to my dad’s tonight, where we will make the traditional pot of chili and have cornbread (with honey on top- the cornbread must have honey, trust me on this) and watch a few scary movies and give full-size candy bars to the chillins. That’s right. We are that house. And my dad’s really awesome. Naturally. I’ll be wearing my tiara, as I like to do on Halloween, and will for sure be taking notes on all of the cute kid’s costumes, because you know, next year we’ll have our very own little pumpkin to dress up and take trick or treating!!! :D
And of course, since I can never ever miss a good party, we’ll be going to a Halloween partay tomorrow. I know, it seems like everyone and their mother went to parties last weekend, but hey. Hopefully you’ll all still be in the Halloween spirit through this weekend? Because duh I’ll want to share our awesome costumes with you! And the party goodness. At which I will get my drank on with some… uh… orange soda? Or something equally as festive. Cus, you know.
What are your Halloween plans?
Have you seen Hocus Pocus?
Have you ever put honey on your cornbread? If not, you really need to try it out, and then report back to me. It’s life-changing.

My Halloween is being spent in bed –my ops manager made me take a sick day today (yes, i’m still sick =\) I don’t know why, but Halloween was never my thing. I don’t think I’ve dressed up since I was like 9. I love looking at all the decorations though and all the costumes the little ones are wearing. I LOVE cornbread, but I’ve never tried putting honey on it. I will definitely have to try it out!
Katie
Awww noooo :( Boo for being sick! Maybe some cornbread with honey will help?? ;)

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Hocus Pocus. Really. It’s just the best. Also, honey on cornbread? Writing that down right now. Sounds amazing. Can’t wait to see your costumes!
Katie
Right?! It’s just a universally awesome Halloween movie, I’ve decided. And YES, do the honey on cornbread thing and let me know how you like it!! :)

You know what? I haven’t had candy corn in SO LONG. Maybe I’ll be able to round some up tomorrow on clearance because now I’m really craving it. Also, I really think some scary movies need to be watched over the weekend because I’ve yet to do that as well. Geez… I think I’m going to deem this weekend Halloween weekend since I’ve done such a poor job of celebrating so far!
Katie
Good call on the clearance candy corn!! Seriously, we may have to go back and check it out, too. ;) And yesss you must watch some scary movies! It’s totally Halloween weekend! I’ll celebrate with you! :)
