Oh, this weekend. It was busy, it was fun, I saw my favourite people in this world and it left my heart feeling very, very full. These are the kinds of weekends I live for.
Friday night we Skyped with my bruddas and sista. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. I seriously love my siblings. They are just, they are my people. And Skype is a Godsend. It makes thousands of miles feel like nothing at all. Isn’t it so cool to stop and think about how we can even do that?! Technology, man. I really stopped and was in awe of this whilst explaining it to my 80 year old grandpa. It is amazing how far we’ve come.
Speaking of how far we’ve come, my brother graduated with his Master’s in Biology on Saturday!! I’m such a proud sister. He’s amazing and so smart, and now he told us we have to call him “Master Haakenson.” So. That happened.
After Skyping, my favesies came over and we ate cupcakes and had some girl talk. We dubbed this our “pre-cinco de mayo fiesta” which counts since we did have margaritas, right? Isn’t Steph’s little dog just so cute?! Our cats weren’t too sure.
Saturday was the Kentucky Derby party. We enjoyed some Mint Juleps and family time and also celebrated my grandpa’s 82nd birthday! My mom was born on his birthday, and the Derby is always around the same time, so it’s become a tradition to have this party. This was the first Derby/birthday party that she wasn’t here for. It was really hard, but my aunt and I just kept reminding each other to not think about it. It helped. We know that Mom would have wanted us to have a blast, for her. So we did. Plus, that family of mine is just the best. So that also helps.

No cupcakes this weekend. But lots of other sugary crap, like cake and brownie bites and chocolate covered oreos and stuff.
We did fish tacos at our house yesterday. My husband’s sister and mom didn’t even realize it was cinco de mayo! I’m not a big celebrater of this particular holiday, but we had tacos and sangria, so that counts, right?
haha well, at least you had some sort of sugary crap ;) I LOVE FISH TACOS. Seriously, they are pretty much my fave food. So good!

My weekend was nice and relaxing :) Ran 10 miles on Saturday, then went out and about. Mmmm Love cupcakes!! I unfortunately didn’t have any lol.

I’m from Kentucky, and I live about 1.5 hours from where the Derby is held. I should have went, and least in the in field (that’s where all the fun is!)
I have a master’s degree in counseling, but I don’t use it or really plan to. Hehe ;-)
Ahhh yes, you must go one day! How fun would that be?! And, hey, it’s enough to be able to say you have a Master’s! I think that’s awesome!

Skype really is such an amazing thing. To be able to talk to AND SEE all these people far away is just awesome. Sometimes our world can be pretty cool.
