Today would have been my mom’s 57th birthday. I wrote this for her.
You are such an inspiration to me and my life.
You are the epitome of strength and faith and beauty in my eyes.
Thank you for being my mom. I wouldn’t want any other!
You are the strongest woman I’ve ever known.
You are a fighter, you’re brave, you’re selfless, you’re kind, you’re hilarious, you’re sweet, you’re fun, you’re stubborn, you’re my best friend.
Thank you, Mom, for being the woman you are, for being the greatest role model in my life, and for always loving my dad, brothers and me (and everyone!) with such a pure and unconditional love.
You gave me my faith, my heart, my life, my everything- and I am eternally grateful for you.
You have taught me what it is to be a good person.
You have constantly reminded me that my name means “pure” (and I love you for that, no matter how many times I have rolled my eyes- which coincidentally is another thing you taught me how to do)
And most importantly, you have taught me that life is to be LIVED, each and every day.

In honour of my mom, we’re going to visit her grave today for the first time. I’m nervous, and not sure how I’m going to react (oh wait, yes I do, I’m going to cry) and I’m just praying for strength and for comfort. This isn’t going to be easy, I know it. But nothing good in life is easy.

I’m just now catching up on posts. You’re beautiful Katie. I got a lump in my throat while reading this. So raw and real. As Mother’s Day draws near I pray your heart is filled with an overwhelming amount of joy as you think back through memories of your mama’s sweet life. Most of all I hope you feel God’s nearness. I love my mom SO much and not having her would bring me so much heartache. I admire your strength and ability to do just what you said your mom taught you: to LIVE life each and every day.
