Happy Monday, friends! Oh my gosh, I feel like I haven’t done a “life update” in some time… I think we’re due for one. So brace yourself, this is probably going to be long…
All last week I did a 5 day detox (you can read all about it HERE!). I also happened to be sick (just an annoying little cold, nothing major) so that made it not quite make me feel as AMAZING and ENERGY-FILLED as I would assume a detox normally would, but I stuck to it pretty much to the T, and I feel so great now! I could tell I felt generally toned all over and not bloated, so YAY for that! :) Also, it helped re-set my mindset about food after the holidays (OMG so many coooookies lol), and I’m eating so much more consciously and mindfully now. So yay for that! I’m actually going to be doing the next Tone It Up challenge leading up to Valentine’s Day, and I’m pretty excited about it. :) I’ll be sharing updates on my Instagram stories, so be sure to follow me there! I’ll also share here on the blog, duh. Always.
So, LIFE. Life has been pretty great. A few of my resolutions for the year are to be more present- enjoy the here and the now, with whomever I am with at the time, to be more mindful of my time and how I spend it (no more getting lost mindlessly scrolling Instagram, because, hi TIME WASTER!) and speaking only love to myself and others. So far so good! It’s amazing what you can do when you stay mindful. Can I get an amen!
The kids have been so great. Sam is loving being back at school- he definitely thrives on that routine and gets so much out of it each day! He’s in an inclusion class at his school, one of the only ones of its kind in the area, and his class consists of 4 kids with autism and the rest 8 typically-developing kids. He has an ABA therapist aid that is with him each day, to support his learning and social skills, which is SO great. And he gets to play with his friends and do all of the things his peers are doing. I love it so much. :) It has been one of the biggest blessings for our family! He has grown a lot already since starting school, and it’s only been 4 months! I’m excited to see where we are a year from now. Unbelievable growth- that’s my number one prayer for my Sam Sam.
Little miss Sophie turns TWO this Sunday!!! I seriously cannot believe it and I’m left wondering where exactly did the time go?? I remember sitting there in the hospital kissing her sweet newborn cheeks just yesterday. Goodness that was a wild ride. I’ll write more of my feelings on all of this birthday stuff in Friday’s post, but until then, I’ll be running around all this week in preparation for her party on Saturday! I bet you can guess the theme.
I’ll give you one hint: meow. ;)
Zack and I have been really good about making sure to spend quality time just us two, and bless his parents for being so willing to watch our kiddos so we can go on little date nights. This weekend we did just that, and gosh it’s just SO GOOD for the soul. All parents need that time away and a little parent “break,” but throw in the whole parenting a kid with special needs and it duplicates that need. ;) I love our babies something fierce, but the time with my hubby is just as precious and so very much needed. We didn’t really do anything terribly special- grabbed coffee, went shopping for the blog (when you work with your spouse, you find it never REALLY turns off haha, also side note I LOVE my job!!), stopped by Home Goods to wander and got 4 rolls of wrapping paper (what can I say, they have the cutest wrapping paper!) and finished with dinner and drinks at a favorite local spot (Cafe Bernardo for my Sac people!)
Find someone who you can literally do anything with and have a good time. That’s the key.
Also, trying to carry 4 rolls of wrapping paper is super awkward and hilarious, in case you were wondering.
Phew! Okay, see. Told you that was going to be a long one. If you read all of that, thanks for making it here. You’re my favorite.
