I know. Diaper talk. Riveting, right? But, hey, it’s kind of something that all parents are all too familiar with, and something that Zack and I have been acquiring for some time now. Like, ohhhh, I don’t know, about 8 months or so. ;) At my baby shower a few weekends ago, we got a few HUGE boxes of diapers, which was kind of a wake-up call, because like, we were actually excited about that. You know you’re a grown up when you’re excited about receiving diapers as a present, am I right?
So. I guess this is the time to let you all know that in the coming weeks, I will be posting some fun baby shower themed posts here on Katie Did What. And to kick off those posts, we had to do some major stocking up on- you guessed it- diapers. Plus, just for our near future. It’s ridiculous how many of those things babies go through, or so I’ve heard. And thus, we headed to Safeway, which is where we do the bulk of our shopping (okay, besides TJ’s, le duh) and loaded up on diapers (no pun intended?). We are huge Safeway fans in this household, mostly because they always have the best deals, and Zack is a couponing master, so we always feel like we get the most bang for our buck there. We used these Huggies online coupons and ended up saving a ton of money. As per the usual.
Parents! And soon-to-be parents! My advice for saving money on diapers? Use coupons! They are literal dollar bills when you think about it, and when you have kids, every little bit counts, right? Right.
That is the face of a happy customer with a cart full o’ diapers. Onward and upward!
Do you use coupons?
Moms: what kind of diapers do you like the best?
What grocery store do you frequent?

i would normally get diapers at kroger, maybe walmart. i would use a coupon if i had one, but it wasn’t often.
when my babes were little babies, i had to go with the swaddlers. they are so soft and there is just nothing like them. once they were out of that stage, i switched to luvs. i was hesitant at first because everyone seems to be team pampers or team huggies. they are great though and i highly recommend them after the swaddlers! as for pampers vs huggies, i would have to say pampers. i just wasn’t a fan of huggies to be honest! i’m rambling now because it makes me sad that my kids are out of this stage. xo
Katie
Awww don’t be sad!! :) I’m sure it’s somewhat of a relief to be DONE with the diapers! I’ve heard it just depends on the babies as far as which brand works best, so we shall see!

Okay.. long comment ahead ;)
We got tons of diapers too for our baby shower.. which was totally AWESOME. but we got a ton of different brands. Basically every top name or no name brand you can think of we got. so that means we tried them all. and totally buggies has been my all time favorite. totally holds the best. and once your little babe gets to where he’s sleeping long hours through the night… it’ll happen eventually ;)… huggies has been the ONE to actually hold all night.
also I might add.. costco has great deal on diapers. you get them in bulk and when you add up how much you’re getting it ends up being cheaper. and they’re constantly on sale plus you can use your coupons so it comes out to be worth it.. same with wipes!
okay and coupons. yes! every penny counts. totally my moto. I’m no coupon expert but I’ve totally been getting into it lately. plus its so fun to just know that you’re saving lol. since I’ve been couponing I’ve been doing a lot of little shopping at multiple stores. target i love because of the deals i can get from their cartwheel app and coupons. safeway is also awesome. and I’ve been loving stores like walgreens because they have a rewards program ;)
Katie
Oooh thanks for the info! Good to know that Huggies worked best for you- it’s the brand we have the most of, that’s for sure!! And I LOVE Costco, so I’m not surprised they’re good for diapers, too! We LOVE using cartwheel and coupons and sale prices together at Target- makes for some amazing deals!!

Pampers cruisers and swaddlers are my fave. My 3rd baby is 8 months old so we don’t “go” to the store a lot. We have an amazon membership and can subscribe to diapers. They automatically get delivered once a month (or however often we need them). I love it!! We get a pretty decent discount on doing it that way too. My husband’s co-workers threw us a diaper shower with our first. It took us 2 babies to get through all of them!! It was so nice!
Katie
I have heard amazing things about Amazon Mom and ordering diapers from them! So cool that they just come right to your door- can’t beat that! :)

Since I have 4 (three boys/one girl) I was able to try a LOT of diapers. I’ve tried cloth diaper service, pampers, huggies, cloth, etc. I ended up being on Team Pampers. They have a cool reward program as well. For wipes, I was a huggies fan.
Katie
Gotta love those diaper reward programs- every bit counts!! :) Thanks for the heads up!

Well if I ever end up pregnant I will have to keep this in mind so I can become the coupon queen! I usually don’t use coupons, but I buy my big tub of salad at safeway every week, and because I’m a member I get it for $5.00 instead for $5.99. But other than that, I’m a huge Trader Joe’s and Sam’s fan!
Katie
I am obsessedddd with both TJ’s and Costco! They’re definitely two of my favorite places, ever.

I found the only diaper that didn’t leak overnight for my girl was Pampers. Only used Pampers. I tried other brands and they always leaked. I have heard there are differences though in which work better for girls vs boys. The Pampers reward program is awesome too, you get points in all products which you log online and collect and you can get books and other great stuff for your little one. it’s kinda like another coupon??
I remember diaper coupons were gold. and I did a lot of flyer checking for diaper deals.
Katie
That rewards program sounds SO awesome! I will definitely be looking into it!! :) I’m all about scoring good deals!

YAY for baby themed posts!!!
So my cute baby nephew is 7 weeks old today and pretty much all of my current diaper knowledge comes from him. His parents tried to save a pretty penny by going with cheap off brand diapers once and that’s the only time he’s ever had a blown out diaper. They are loving Pampers for him so far because they keep everything very well contained (So far). But definitely…Coupons are a lifesaver for diapers cause when you’re using a ton and you’re buying name brand…adds up real quick!!
Katie
Eeeek I’m glad you’re excited for the baby themed posts!! :) I am too- they’re going to be fun! Agreed that name brand can add up, especially if you don’t shop the sales and use coupons on top of that! Thankfully, Zack is like the couponing master and he’s taken over that department. ;)

I’ve actually found that, for us, the off-brand diapers tend to work better and hold more. I really like the Walgreens brand… and we just bought a friggin huge thing (252!) of Sam’s club brand, so I’m REALLY hoping those work! lol

We use cloth but when we do use disposables (going out, night, visits) we use Honest diapers. Have you seen them? Honest.com. They are the cutest! They make great little boy prints (I’m partial to the comic print for my son), and you can gets “bundles” so save $. They aren’t the cheapest option, but we also don’t use them as often. Worth a look!!
Katie
Yes, I’ve heard only good things about Honest! I definitely want to try out some of their stuff! :)
