Some photos from our first full weekend home as a family of four! I have to say, two kids is NO JOKE, you guys. It is exhausting and emotional at times (but that’s postpartum in a nutshell, really) and also absolutely exhilerating and incredible at the same time (again- postpartum). Zack and I have yet to really fall into our groove, but I know it will come. For now, we’re just pretty much in survival mode. Lots of late nights and weird nap times and looots of cups of coffee and snuggling babies. It’s not too bad, really. Can’t complain too much. ;)
Our neighbors, God bless ’em, put together a meal train for our first week home, and oh my gosh it was the best thing ever!! Each night for 8 nights, we didn’t have to worry about our dinners! And neighbors brought SO MUCH FOOD that we have a bunch frozen. I’m talking, whole lasagnas, a bunch of soup and rolls and salads. Oh gosh, I am still blown away by their sweetness. It really made our first week home that much easier, not having to worry about meals! Not sure what we did to deserve such incredible neighbors, but I’m definitely thankful for them!
Matching with my baby girl! This is what dreams are made of, guys. :)
Sophie had her two day check up, and the pediatrician confirmed once again for us that she is 100% perfect! :) Oh, it’s music to my ears, after hearing so much during my pregnancy that things could be very much NOT perfect. Thank God for her health!! I will never take that for granted. <3
We are still working on being gentle with baby sister. It’s definitely a constant struggle with Sam, as he doesn’t quite understand yet what she even IS, haha. ;) But he is digging all of the new toys around the house, like his old bouncer, which he spent quite some time in today. Love that silly crazy boy!
I found a bag of my old baby things that my mom had given me, and it was SO much fun (and yes, very emotional) going through it and pulling out all of these beautiful little things that I now get to put on my own baby girl. Gosh, I wish more than anything that my mom could be here. She would be so so happy. Finding these things and seeing them on Sophie in a small way makes it feel like my mom is here with us, though. And how sweet is this little lace bonnet?!
And Sam never ceases to make us laugh. He literally sat there with his arms behind his head like that, having us spoonfeed him lasagna. It. Was. Hilarious.
Annnnd it’s Monday! A new week! And I am officially back to blogging full-time! :) Albeit, probably mostly about my babies- hope you don’t mind. ;)

you are doing so great!!! and no it’s NO joke!! but chalk everything up to survival mode for as long as you need, and before you know it, you’ll be like, “wait, i think we’ve kinda got the hang of this!!” plus, she will grow TOO fast so it doesn’t even matter what does or doesn’t happen! you look great and i am so grateful to hear that sophie is healthy as ever!!! she is precious!! and i can totally see the sibling resemblance between the two S’s!!

This sounds just like our first week as a family of four!! So thankful for our friends and neighbors :) It took us a couple of months to really get into a good routine ;) So glad to hear that baby Sophie is healthy!! Enjoy these days (and all that coffee ha!) xxoo

We’re still getting used to all of the craziness!! But I can definitely say it’s easier now than it was even just one month ago! Crazy!!

Oh my goodness, look at that little peanut! I can’t wait to hold my baby girl in my arms.
Our church puts together something similar to he meal train, and it is always such a blessing.
Katie
It is SUCH a blessing in those first few days of fogginess and no sleep!! I love that your church does that!

Sam is so adorable. And of course Sophie is precious. Love their names. I think I’ve seen a brand of clothing called “Sam and Sophie” on Zulily before! But I could have that mixed up. :P
Just wait until #2 is crawling and getting into big brothers (or sister in my case) stuff! Talk about crazy. But definitely the first month of adjusting and getting the babies used to each other is hard too. Enjoy your time with your sweet little bundle. My baby is 18 mo and not feeling so little anymore. *cry*
Keep those pics coming!
Katie
Whatttt I will have to check out that brand, if it does exist!!! That’s amazing! Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine when she’s crawling!! It’s going to be NUTS haha!

So much to comment on!
Know that this post is older but hoping y’all are starting to find a rhythm and getting used to being a family of 4.
So so sweet of your neighbors to do that! They do something similar like that at my church with people signing up to deliver meals. Love how it blesses people.
The mama/baby matching photo = death by cuteness. What a beautiful robe!
Love that photo of you at her two day check up. Just precious! I am so happy she is a perfect healthy little lady. Hallelujah!
Sam in the bouncer KILLED me. so funny and so cute. His hair is still one of the most fabulous things I’ve ever seen.
Wish with all my heart that your mama could be here for you and these moments and meet her beautiful grandbabies. It breaks my heart to know how many people have to go through a loss like that and life moments without that special person. But I know she would be SO so proud of you and the mama you are. She created a beautiful, fine, Godly, loving woman in you and you make her proud all the time. And she’s watching and knows that and is with you every moment. I love you, dearest Katie.
Love to your beautiful family on this valentine’s day. xo
Katie
