You know, we like to keep it super classy around here. Zack and I enjoy having our little date nights and whenever we have one at home, I always set the table really pretty and light some candles and pour some bubbly and just soak it all in. Well, recently, we decided to have said at-home date night, but this time would be different. This time, we were making frozen meals. I told you, we like to keep it classy. But really, it was a weeknight, Zack had just gotten home from working all day, we didn’t have much time to prepare anything super intricate, and so we opened our freezer and were pleasantly greeted with some healthy Lean Cuisine frozen meals! And it hit us: we can totally make these for date night! And so, we did.
We started this dinner pretty late, and so it was really nice to just be able to pop our meals in the microwave and not worry about anything at all. We made a few of the Lean Cuisine Honestly Good frozen meals, and were pleasantly surprised at how good they honestly were (see what I did there?)! The meal included a pasta side and some veggies (broccoli- my favorite!) and the main entree which was chicken for both of us. The flavors were delicious and I was really surprised that these were frozen meals, as they did not taste like any I remember eating growing up! If I didn’t know, I would not have guessed that they came from the frozen aisle! I also love how healthy the meals are. I am all about eating healthy, and these meals are the perfect balance of everything you need in your dinner. I will definitely be buying a few more for our lazy/late dinner nights in the future!
Bonus: a coupon will soon be available in the “savings center” here!
We ended our date night with some popcorn and a movie (we watched Taken for the millionth time). Just how we like it.

Hmm…our date nights can vary a lot in terms of what we do. They usually always involve food in some form, snuggling, and in general quality time together. I love that I can just be with my husband in comfortable silence or we can talk together til 3 a.m. Our most recent date night was to a new Farm and Fleet store that opened close to us, then we went to wal-mart, and finished the evening with a pumpkin spice chai at Caribou. We love to drive around together because we did that a lot when we were dating. I just got a coupon for those lean cuisine meals, so I will have to try them out. I am usually very skeptical of the quality of frozen dinners, but yours looked tasty.
Katie
I love the low-key date nights the most! Yummm I need to try a pumpkin spice chai, that sounds incredible.

What a cute date night! I haven’t tried Lean Cuisine Honestly Good, but the portion size looks pretty great! I’m often still hungry after the regular lean cuisine meal. My boyfriend and I love having stay at home date nights, it definitely saves us a lot of $ but at least once a month, we’ll splurge and go somewhere fancy :) Living in Manhattan, there’s so many fun, new places to try so date night is a great excuse to go try them! If we’re have a date night at home, we usually finish it with catching up on our t.v. shows from the week.
Katie
It was perfect portion for me! My husband, on the other hand, had to eat some more afterward, since it wasn’t enough for him. Just a head’s up! Ahhh I want to come visit in Manhattan and we can double date to amazing restaurants! Deal?

Just like my hubby said, a date is whatever you make it – it can be at home on a week day if you want it to be! Ha.
Never tried those meals- perhaps I could pick a couple up to try!
Katie
YES, I love what your hubby says- it’s so true! Why not have a date night on a weeknight, I say?! Who makes the rules? ;)

I’ve always wanted to try that Champagne in the background.. Perrier Jouet I think its called. The bottle is soo beautiful!
Katie
Yup, it’s really good champagne, and the bottle is my favourite, ever. :) This particular one is just a display bottle Zack has had forever. No actual champers in it.

great date! sometimes the man and i did the same things too. we did not do frozen foods as we don’t own a kitchen..but we bought some fruit juices or any drinks and pretended it was expensive red wine and we drank together in our room.this sound insane for you maybe but we like to keep it simple sometimes.recently i watched “the internship” but half way only..perhaps will finish it this weekend.
again,love your post so much!xo
Katie
Aw that’s such a sweet idea for a date. I love that you bought juice and pretended it was expensive wine. Love it.
