bikini bottoms: c/o the orchid boutique (hipster bikini bottoms)
Yesterday I checked another thing off of my summer bucket list and we headed out to a lake day! I even tried my hand at Stand Up Paddle Boarding, which was AWESOME. Seriously, it is such a great workout, but it doesn’t even feel like a workout because it’s just so much fun! My dad recently bought a board, and so I had been itching to try it out for weeks now! We finally made time to get to the lake by his house and we made a day of it! Sam enjoyed it too, made evident by his coos and giggles all day long. :) Plus, he had it made in the shade in his pack and play with an umbrella over it. Life as a baby. Tough work. ;) We packed a picnic lunch and swam and did SUP and it was just the perfect summer day.
Life is all about taking risks and trying new things. Yes, it can be scary, but I urge you to do it anyway! Life is way too short to stay in your comfort zone and never go outside the lines. I was a bit nervous to try my hand at SUP, but once I did I couldn’t believe I was ever scared and had the time of my life! Sometimes I get asked how I stay motivated (I wrote a whole post on that here if you’re interested), and one of the biggest things I’ve realized recently is to always switch up your workouts! Don’t let it get boring, and you won’t get bored! Sounds simple, right? Makes sense, doesn’t it? If you find yourself dragging to get outside to run the same exact 5 miles you run every single day, mix it up! Try a new fitness class, pop in a new workout DVD, do something you haven’t done before that gets you up and moving! It really does wonders! :)
I also got to wear my gorgeous new bikini that The Orchid Boutique sent me. Isn’t it beautiful? I’m a little bit obsessed with all things Maaji swimwear, and have had my eye on this particular swimsuit for some time now. The top fits like a dream, and I love the lace detailing on the back, which allows for the perfect fit!
Have you tried SUP before?
What do you have left on your summer bucket list?
Did you try anything new this summer?

I’ve had my eye on that top for a couple weeks now!!! Looks amazing on you girl! And yay for SUP!! I’m still itching to try it, it’s just hard finding a day that both me and the boyfriend can do it, between school and work, we are both thinking it will probably happen next year when we are both only working haha.
Katie
Yeah, it took us long enough to finally get out and do it! But I am SO glad we did! It’s super fun. I hope you can find some time to try it out- even if it isn’t til next year!

LOVE your swimsuit! Adorable.
I’ve never tried SUP, but have always wanted to. When we were in SD in August, there were people doing it ALL over the place. There were also some people doing yoga on the boards which amazed me. I could just imagine myself being the one that not so gracefully falls headfirst into the water. ;)
Katie
Aw thanks girly! You must try SUP! You’d love it!! :) And yeah, there is no way I could do yoga on the board. I was telling Zack and my dad about people who do, and I was like, ummmm I’m good. I was impressed that I just got up without falling ;)

Cute suit! SUP is such a great and enjoyable workout. Lots to see and arms and core work galore.
Katie
Thanks girl! And yeah, SUP is SUCH a great workout! I love that you’re working muscles and having FUN at the same time. The best kind of workout, in my opinion.

SUP is still on my bucket list! I -almost- managed to go while I was vacationing in Hawaii earlier this year, but we got rained out and somehow the opportunity never presented itself again. I love that you went out of your comfort zone, though — definitely what keeps life interesting!
Katie
GIRL. You must try SUP if you get the chance! It’s so fun!

I tried SUP for the first time this summer too and I LOVED it! Next on my bucket list is taking a SUP yoga class. That probably won’t happen this summer, but I’ll make it my goal for next summer. That swimsuit is beautiful! I love the back!
Katie
Oh my gosh, I don’t know how people do SUP yoga!!! I would fall off FOR sure! But it always looks so elegant and gorgeous. I’d make it look just the opposite, I’m sure haha

I Love SUPing! My husband and I live near a lake and colorado and go as often as possible! This spring we took one of our boards on our cruise and SUP in Cozumel. And we love to take them down the white water park in our local section of the Arkansas River. So fun!! Glad you got to check it off your summer bucket list and got bit by the SUP “Bug” ;)
Katie
So fun to live near a lake where you can do SUP whenever you want! I am hooked now, for sure!
