{oh, hey. just shopping at walmart.}
Want to know what my New Year’s resolution is every single year? To keep in better touch with family and friends that live far away. The relationships we have are the most important thing there is in this world, and keeping them strong and nurtured is high on my list of priorities. This is where an important cell phone plan comes in. Without a cell phone, I would be so lost (like, literally, I use it for GPS all the time!) and since we aren’t millionaires (I know, I know, shocker) it’s important to find a cheap wireless plan that is still really good at the same time. I mean, I am kind of addicted to my social media, and there is nothing more annoying in this world than a repeating failed attempt at uploading a photo to Instagram. Don’t lie, you know what I’m talking about. #firstworldprobs. Since we are on a pretty strict budget, I was really excited to learn about the Walmart Family Mobile service for cell phones! They have unlimited plans, which are super important to us so we can text our family and friends as much as we want, and also since we are constantly using the internet/GPS/social media on our phones! Bonus: the plan is just $40 a month. Yeah, we can manage that into our budget, for sure. I think we may have just found the best wireless plan, just saying.
{shopping essentials ;)}
You must first purchase a phone and then you buy a separate Starter Kit for $25. You then activate your phone with the starter kit via the website or in store, and voila! You’re ready to use it! If you want to read more information about the online account management and information check it out here.
I currently have Virgin Mobile cell phone service, and have loved it for the most part. It is really hard to beat the great value, but the speed and quality of service is not the greatest. So I was excited to learn more about the Walmart Family Plan in hopes to see if it really is a better value than my existing service. I love that you aren’t locked into an agreement or any sort of contract. Plus, I can keep my phone number, which is a huge bonus to me because I really hate changing numbers. I mean, I only just memorized this one, it would take months to memorize a new one! I’m excited to try out my new phone and hope to find that it’s the best wireless plan out there! Wish me luck! ;) I’ll report back in a month to let you know how it went.

Hello Katie…
I just read your blog about cheap cell phone service.. I have Boost Mobile I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I love it !! haven’t really had a problem with the service..they go off the Sprint tower so sometimes I might not get the greatest service everywhere ,but it doesn’t bother me. and the fact that boost has the shrinkage plan is a major plus for me. I started off paying $60 a month for unlimited everything and for every 6 on-time “payments” I get $5 off my monthly “bill” so far I am down to paying $50 a month and two more on-time payments away from my $5 off of that :) whaoo! LOL I know that some people complain about having to pay a lot for a no contract phone.. but what you are mainly paying for IS the phone itself. I also love the fact that anytime I want to get an “Newer” phone I can I dont have to wait for an “upgrade” just gotta save the money and it’s mine . LOL

I can’t wait to see how you like the service! I’m in college, so it’s about that time that my parents kick me off the plan they have. So if this is cheap and reliable, I’ll be checking it out! Although I do love Verizon and my iPhone, they are not cheap!

Yeah, iPhone plans are so expensive!! I’ll definitely be updating with how I like my plan! So far, so good :)

My family has an unlimited (plus data upcharges) plan with Sprint and I am so excited about what you discovered about the Walmart Family Mobile plan! We could save a ton – enough for many mini wine bottles – perfect for summer evenings ;) We are a mixed tech group – one Teen Diva would can’t live without her iPhone, however the rest of us are really liking our GIII Androids. I was surprised to discover this plan would work for our phones! Looking forward to reading more about your experience!
