The Gender Reveal Party was a success! When we cut into the cake and saw the blue inside, I literally was more shocked than I have been at anything, ever. Who knows why, but I was seriously convinced that it was a girl! I just had “that feeling.” Well, my friends, feelings are not always very reliable, because mine was dead wrong! It makes sense. Boys are much more prevalent in our families than girls. Zack is one of three boys, I’m the only girl with two brothers. Right when we saw that blue frosting in the middle of the cake, I screamed. And jumped up and down. That seems to be my reaction to really surprising (and really happy!) things.
And so. A boy. A little baby boy. I couldn’t be more thrilled. I have always loved having older brothers. Big brothers to take care of me, to be protective of me, to tease me (endlessly), to be role models. And now we get our “big brother.” And that makes my heart so very happy. This little boy is going to be the most loved little one ever.
This morning, right when I woke up, he started kicking and doing somersaults and it was the most constant I’ve felt him! It was the coolest feeling. I can’t stop smiling when I think about that little guy. Little Baby Did What, you are more loved than you can imagine, and we haven’t even met you yet!

p.s. and of course I have to include the obligatory “21 week” picture! :)
p.p.s. a word on the cake, since I’ve gotten quite a few questions about it. We had the ultrasound tech write on a piece of paper and put in an envelope what the sex of the baby was, so that we couldn’t see it. Then we brought that envelope to the baker and had them look, again without telling us, and asked them to make an all-white cake with either pink or blue frosting in the middle, depending on what the gender was. Then at the party, we cut into the cake and were surprised with everyone else!!

Hi Katie,
I wrote a really long comment yesterday but you might have not seen it. Anyways, I wanted to tell you our news but now I should be concentrating on your good news! You are joining me in the group of hot mammas with a son! OF course you are!!! It could have been no other way! I am delighted for your happiness. Now should I be unpopular?! The gender does not matter really. Your precious child is going to be like you and Zach. So if like us, you guys like shopping than your baby will too as growing up, no matter what you have (a boy or a girl). My son plays with his books and has no guns, robots nor cranes. Is this a surprise? No…. HAHA
Big hug, Eszter

Congrats on your baby boy! Boys are quite the adventure and they love their mommy’s sooooo much. Your bond will be incredible! I’ve got three of my own and then my girl.
Who knew to put the blue cake out?
Katie
Awww I can’t wait to meet our little boy!!! :) Thank you- we are over the moon excited about it!! We had the ultrasound tech write the gender and secretly put it in an envelope (so we didn’t see) then we brought the envelope to the baker and had them look and told them to put either pink or blue frosting in the middle, depending on the gender! That way, it was a total surprise to us as well at the party when we cut into the cake!! :D
