(Zack totally introduced me to this song a while back, when I was searching for new songs for Disneyland road trip music– and now it’s always playing on the Buried Life– holler!)
So this weekend was full of family fun. (Sounds like sarcasm? An oxymoron? An anomaly? No! Really! It was fun!)
(Really!)
First I tried packing…. Which was more work than I was expecting, thanks to a few
curious little guys…
We went up to my parent’s new house, and stayed from friday to sunday. We celebrated the February Birthdays (my two aunts) on Saturday, and it was the first time I’d seen my great aunt and uncle in a looongggg time. Like. 2 years? They only live about 1.5 hours away, but due to my uncle’s refusal to undergo hip surgery, and I dont know, I guess old age and stubbornness? they haven’t made it up here to our neck of the woods in a while. Not even for Christmas, which used to at least be the once-a-year I saw them. Nayways.
My great aunt and uncle were there, and it was nice to see them. And! Zack met them! For the first time! So that means that’s it! It’s done! Boyfriend has officially met every single one of my family members (that matters).
And I like to keep letting him know that. Y’know. In case that changes anything.
(I think it should).
((Happy thoughts!!))
You always know what presents are from Aunt Irene. The ones with the gorgeous intricate gold wrapping paper and tied up with about 50 beautiful, gaudy, grandiose ribbons. (Well… She IS an artist. Like. A really really good artist.) And she sings amazingly. And. Those presents, I’m telling you. She makes Martha Stewart look like a 5 year old finger-artist. Seriously.
And she got my other aunt a little globe as a present, and described it as “tremendously accurate, for being so small.” Which cracked me up.
I’m not sure why.
So the weekend was fun, and full of wine and bbq shrimp and lots of laughing and walking the dog and my grandpa telling us a story of his friend, “the Chinaman” who was a “PRINCE of a guy” (I just picture Holden Caulfield talking every time my Grandpa does. It’s great.), and curling (our new favourite sport– Although my mother makes a great point in saying “At what time in your life do you just wake up one day and think– Huh. I want to be a curler”), and lots of puzzles and boardgames and even some chemistry studying (I know- I’m so studious!)
But now we’re back in Sac, and Boyfriend is sicky :( And I’ve got a bit of a bug too (a bug-a-boo?) and we’re drinking lots of tea and watching mindless television.
