Dressing postpartum can be tricky (I’m actually working on a post all about postpartum fashion). Honestly, most days, after a weird night of maybe 4.5 hours of sleep- and not all in a row- it’s hard to even find any motivation to get out of my pajamas. Or to wash my hair. This is why “just throw a hat on it” is my new motto when my hair is just not working for me. Two kids is crazy business, guys. But more on that later, too. When I’m a little more coherent. ;)
For today, I wanted to share a recent outfit, because I actually HAVE changed out of pajamas, and I feel it should be documented! ;) So, yay for me! I think my main motivation for life is the same as my main motivation for working out: cute clothes! Sounds silly, but stay with me here. Just getting up and getting myself ready (makeup and a cute outfit) totally make a huge difference in how I feel and how I tackle my day. Since the majority of my days lately are spent nursing little Sophie (girl can EAT! I seriously feel like all I do these days is nurse!), just doing a little something for myself and making myself somewhat presentable, does wonders for my self esteem. It makes a huge difference in my confidence and my attitude and happiness. And that is still important! Yes, she is important, but so am I. So okay. That’s my advice to new moms: don’t lose yourself in the new-mom-ness.
Orrrrr… this could all just be the delirium speaking.
Like I said, 4.5 hours, people. Where’s my coffee?

I can’t believe you just gave birth?? You look amazing!! I was sporting the “I just birthed a baby and she wakes every hour at night” look for a good 3 months! Haha
Katie
Haha! Well.. that look is definitely strong over here most of the time. ;)

Cute clothes is definitely a good motivator! I work from home so I’m so glad I have a blog to get inspiration for getting dressed in something other than leggings and a tee!
Katie
YES, the blog is such good motivation, too! :)

I completely agree. I just had my first baby boy on the 28th of last month, and while there are days that I do stay in my pj’s or sweats, the days I get dressed (even to stay in the house) feel so much better mentally for me. You look great!
Katie
Yes! And I think it’s a balance, definitely. Some days, you just NEED to stay in those pj’s all day and cuddle your baby. And that is AWESOME. I’m actually having one of those days today. :) The important part is to never feel guilty for any of it.

Jess
You look great! Congrats on putting on regular clothes with all the work you are doing, lately.
Katie
