Fall in Northern California wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Apple Hill. If you’re in the area, you’ve no doubt heard of Apple Hill. It’s our “Quintessentially Autumn” place to go, and a must to kick off the Fall season! I’ve been going every year since I was a baby, and now it’s so sweet to be able to bring my own babies to experience it too. Apple Hill is a group of over 50 local family farms nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills. It’s got apple orchards for you to pick your own or grab some bushells, perfect family photo opps, pumpkin patches and nature walks, kids play areas, picnic spots and special treats, pony rides and lots of family memories to be made! We just went with a group of friends and had the best time, and I thought it’d be fun to share our “Apple Hill Guide” in case you’re planning a trip as well!
Apple Hill Guide to our Favorite Farms:
Apple Ridge Farms– flower hike, apple orchards, BBQ lunch options, pumpkin patch, a maze and gem mining!
O’Halloran’s Apple Trail Ranch– this was a new one for us this year, and definitely added to our list of musts! They have the best orchard for apple picking (and to snap some cute family photos!), a huge pumpkin patch, farm stands and even some goats and sheep!
Hidden Star Camino– this is the place to take the kids!! They have a ton of fun play areas for the kids to explore, including an awesome teeter totter and an old fire truck and airplane to crawl inside! This was a hit and a place we go every year now! They also have yummy cider (both family-friendly, and for adults)!
Grandpa’s Cellar– we relaxed among the apple trees and played some corn hole! It was such a chill vibe and a great place to enjoy some yummy gluten free treats. They also have delicious hot chocolate and coffee flights!
Larsen Apple Barn– my fondest memories of Apple Hill are here, we would always take a picnic lunch and eat at their huge lawn with view of a windmill and creek.
High Hill– the biggest of the farms, they have craft vendors, a cute pond to play near and relax, yummy apple pies and cider, and the BEST apple donuts are to be found here (do not miss!). They also have pony rides Fri-Mon, which the kids loved!
Have you been? If so, what’s your favorite farm?
